My name is Taisiya Sokolova, I grew up in Moscow, Russia, where I was attending a famous Gnessin Music Special School since I was five. Ever since my pianist mom introduced me to music, I knew that I want to be a musician. I started playing both violin and piano, but at the age of eleven I decided that I want to play Violin and Viola.
I came to the US right after graduation of Gnessin High School, and currently I attend Indiana University South Bend as a Viola Performance Major. I have been performing across US and Europe, and made a solo appearance with an orchestra twice. I also love playing in the orchestra, and I am currently a member of the Symphony of the Lakes, LaPorte Symphony, and Southwest Michigan Symphony Orchestra.
I taught my first lesson at the age of eleven, and I have had many Violin and Viola students since than. I love when my students make progress and are realizing the full potential of their talents. Learning and sharing music brings light to children’s lives.
