Priscilla Lee Hellenga
Born and raised right here in Three Oaks, I graduated from Three Oaks High School (go Oakers!) then went on to Lake Michigan College for my Nursing Certificate. Later I went back to college at Grand Valley State University and achieved my Bachelor’s Degree in Public Administration and Psychology.
My parents, Eldon & Peg Lee, founded the Lee Music Room in 1960 and my grandfather founded the Lee Theatre, now Vickers Theatre in 1911. At age 7 I was singing duets with my mom and in the Junior then Senior Choir at the Three Oaks United Methodist Church. As a teen I participated in the first Folk Fest in Three Oaks in the Summer of 1964. I started giving guitar lessons then, as well. One of my first students was Tommy Shaw (Damn Yankees and STYX). Later on I was church choir director for many years. Recently, I have been frequently seen as a musician and singer for community events and River Valley Schools theater productions.
I am glad to be retiring back home in Three Oaks and involved with music as a guitar, guitar theory and technical voice instructor and as the Executive Director of the School of American Music.
