Singing, directing and teaching music have been the work of a lifetime for Donna M. Mitchell. Along with a long fulfilling career as a public school music educator, she has spent an equal amount of time leading in church music settings. Teaching is her first love and she is enjoying getting back into a classroom and studio setting with students.
As a vocal soloist, she has performed with the LaPorte County Symphony Orchestra, LaPorte City Band, Michigan City Municipal Band and in many other settings throughout Michiana. Dunes Summer Theater, Footlight Players and The Acorn Theater have all been sources of her experience as an actress and player. Donna’s education includes a BA in Choral/General Music Education earned at Bethel College and many graduate hours earned predominantly at Western Michigan University and Vandercook College of Music, Chicago. Specialty hours were earned through World Music Drumming, World Music Choral and World Music Guitar under the leadership of Dr Will Schmid. She is the Chairperson for Michigan City Messiah Production and active with Michigan City Chamber Music Festival.
Donna is excited to begin a new phase of her career as Executive Director and teacher at School of American Music and Three Oaks Arts and Education Center.
